Having A Great Time With Your Kids

Preparing For Your First Golf Trip

If you are looking for a fun and interesting way to get together with friends and family, consider booking a golf trip for a day full of exercise and competition. If you have never had the pleasure of attending an event like this in the past, you need to make a few preparations to ensure the day is successful.

Contact A Golf Course Well In Advance Of The Event Date

It is best to reach out to a golf course that interests you before the day of your excursion. If you decide to show up at a golf course without advance reservations, you may have to wait for other golfers to tee off before your group is able to hit the course. Inquire about policies in place such as whether you can rent equipment like golf clubs or a golf cart onsite or if you need to bring your own sporting tools yourself. Most golf courses will have equipment available to rent, and they may have package deals available if more than one in your group is interested in using their items. Be sure to call the golf course a day or two before your proposed event to confirm the date and time of your event.

Pack Some Necessary Items For Comfort And Convenience

Check on the weather forecast for the date of your event so you can prepare your clothing and necessary items to keep you comfortable while on the course. If you are unsure about the conditions expected, it is wise to wear layers and bring along a bag to store extra clothing if it is not needed. Remind those in your party to do the same so they do not get too hot or cold while on the course. Bring along sunscreen and a hat with a brim to keep sunlight out of your eyes while you play. If you believe precipitation may be an issue, bring along an umbrella as well. Pack a small tablet and pencils for score-taking in case the golf course does not have these items available.

Inquire About Food And Drink Rules And Availability

Some golf courses will allow you to bring food and drinks out on the course and will have garbage and recycling receptacles available for refuse. It is best however to ask the golf course about the policies regarding this, as others will ask that you refrain from eating on the playing grounds. If the golf courses policy is the latter, find out if the facility has an eatery, restaurant, or lounge on-site. You may be able to book a package that includes dining. If so, book your event so you can eat before or after your sporting event.
